Responsibilities: The Research Protocol Associate assists in the development and maintenance of the protocol document and process from initial receipt of participation through study completion, termination and/or publication. The position carries out responsibilities with minimal direction while complying with regulatory laws and institutional guidelines. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, routing addenda to appropriate personnel for review/approval, distributing forms for signature and maintaining departmental website information. Position coordinates with Mayo sites (Arizona, Jacksonville, Rochester) to determine participation in study where appropriate. Position determines and assembles appropriate documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission, investigational drug brochures reviews/changes, investigational new drug (IND) applications and annual reports, regulatory materials and draft addendums where appropriate. Interacts regularly with the IRB on new protocol submissions, protocol amendments/modifications, adverse events and continuing progress reports. Anticipates and carries out independent actions necessary to provide competent and professional support to meet the needs of patients, physicians, administrators, co-workers and others. Writes and provides input on standard operating procedures related to implementation, maintenance and continuing review of protocols. Provides administrative support for institutional committees and assumes responsibility for delegated administrative tasks. Must have the ability to work independently with minimal direction. Initiates judgment in handling questions, phone calls and appointments. Conducts training as necessary. Participates in various meetings and task forces.

Qualifications: Requires an associate's degree or 2 years experience in a complex administrative or research setting. Must have strong computer experience and possess proficiency on a variety of technical office equipment (computer, printer, dictation equipment, phone, fax machine, scanner, etc). Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, multitasking capability, maintain confidentiality of information, demonstrate good decision-making and judgment and have attention to detail and follow-through skills. Medical terminology background or training and knowledge of regulatory and clinical research activities preferred. Must be willing to provide input to and adapt within a rapidly changing environment.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $19.11 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 80 hours per pay period
Schedule Details: Monday - Friday, Daytime Hours
