Associate Director of Technology Licensing

Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and shares its mission of dedication to excellence in education, patient care and research. As the first medical school in Qatar WCM-Q offers a program of studies leading to the Cornell University M.D. degree. WCM-Q has a vibrant research program in the biomedical sciences with around 200 researchers and staff.

WCM-Q is in its 14th year of operation and is seeking a candidate for an Associate Director of Technology Licensing

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Research, the incumbent will oversee the licensing of technologies and intellectual property for the Qatar campus and will be responsible to facilitate licensing of technologies out of WCM-Q and to support QF in technology licensing in the biomedical sciences. Technology transfer at QF is managed by the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer office (IPTT). The Associate Director for Technology Licensing will work closely with the leadership of the Center for Technology Licensing (CTL) at Cornell University and IPTT at QF to facilitate licensing and commercialization of novel technologies.


Working closely with faculty, CTL and IPTT the incumbent will be responsible for invention assessment, intellectual property protection strategies, market analysis and commercialization strategy, negotiating and structuring licensing, and other related agreements.


The successful candidate is required to have a Degree in Life or Biomedical Sciences and a minimum of 6 years experience in licensing early stage intellectual property. S/he should have successful track record of marketing new technologies and guiding the licensing process. Having excellent business management skills and written and oral communication skills is also required. A Certified Licensing Professional and/or Registered Technology Transfer Professional are highly desirable.
