Responsibilities: Obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (capillary, venous, assisted lines) with standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. Works primarily in their home outpatient work area but may float to other outpatient areas when the need arises, including pediatrics. May also provide phlebotomy support services to all of the downtown Mayo Clinic campus buildings including Charter House, Jacobson Building and the Gift of Life Houses. May also go to nursing homes and private homes for collections. Responsible for accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling and transportation as well as accurate specimen testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment. Able to work with a variety of computer programs /systems. Must maintain patient confidentiality. Utilizes good customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomies, answering the phone and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other health care professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction. Demonstrates a positive and professional demeanor. Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Must possess skills in coping, understanding, following written and verbal instruction, organization, prioritizing, attention to detail, problem solving, critical thinking, multi-tasking and decision making. Assist with training students and new employees.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and a graduate of a phlebotomy training program that provides a clinical rotation or 6 months of phlebotomy experience.

Additional Qualifications: MLT/MT/CLS degreed candidates with phlebotomy experience.

License or Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required in outpatient settings.

Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $16.78 per hour.
Hours/Pay Period: 24
Schedule Details: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Weekend Schedule: No weekends
