The Department of Structural Biology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a qualified Research Technician.
The Research Technician responsibilities include a) constructing plasmid constructs encoding various proteins to be studied in the laboratory, b) performing large-scale plasmid preparations using cesium chloride density gradient ultracentrifugation, c) expressing proteins in both bacteria and mammalian cells for biophysical and structural analysis using ITC, SPR, SAXS, NMR, X-ray crystallography, and Cryo-electron microscopy, and d) performing SPR and ITC measurements. The researcher is expected to intellectually contribute to the projects underway in the laboratory, which are interdisciplinary in nature, with emphases in the areas of biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, molecular biology, chemistry, and computational biology (see hincklab.structbio.pitt.edu). The development of the intellectual capabilities of the researcher will be aided by senior personnel in the laboratory, as well as by regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the laboratory head, group meetings, group presentations, and departmental seminars.
