Its staff of more than 350 employees includes a multidisciplinary team of approximately 65+ doctoral-level scientists who lead more than 200 major research projects in the Institute’s three program areas of Disease Intervention & Prevention, Host Pathogen Interaction and Population Health, as well as the Southwest National Primate Research Center.

A Post-doctoral position is available for highly motivated candidates with a background in microbiology/virology/immunology/biochemistry to join the Mohan laboratory at the SNPRC (Texas Biomedical Research Institute), San Antonio, Texas. We are a Molecular pathology/Immunology laboratory that utilizes non-human primate models (Rhesus macaques) to study Human immunodeficiency/Similan immunodeficiency virus (HIV/SIV) pathogenesis. Currently NIH funded (R01) projects involve investigating a). molecular and epigenetic/non-coding RNA mechanisms underlying B-cell dysfunction in HIV/SIV infection. b). understanding molecular mechanisms associated with the anti-inflammatory actions of cannabinoids in the context of HIV/SIV infection.


Requirements for this position are: Applicants should hold a PhD/MD/DVM degree and have strong laboratory and analytical skills and oral and written communication skills. Significant experience in one or more of the following areas is required: cell culture, basic molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, cloning etc.), luciferase reporter assays and immunoprecipitation /western blotting. Expertise in performing multi-color flow cytometry including data analysis is required.  The position offers competitive salary based on NIH guidelines and great potential for career advancement.
