Responsibilities: Works with the Technical Specialist II, Technical Specialist Coordinator, or the lab supervisor to provide direction for the technical operation of the laboratory, including operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays, and serves as an expert resource to support functions to the laboratory technologists.
**A two-year commitment to this position is required**.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, human biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. Two years relevant laboratory experience required. A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Other clinical laboratory specialty certificates will be reviewed and approved on a case by case basis.
**The required credits necessary to meet New York State guidelines pertaining to clinical testing must be met prior to graduation****Visa sponsorship not available for this position**

Ongoing willingness to upgrade job skills. Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Capable of performing under time constraints, multi-tasking, and working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Demonstrate good communication skills and be able to work closely with others. Able to work independently.


License or Certification: ASCP or other certification pertinent to the laboratory field may be required depending on the laboratory specialty and prevailing regulatory requirements.

Exemption Status: Exempt
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,257.60, based on a full-time position.
Hours/Pay Period: 80
Schedule Details: Monday - Friday 2:00PM - 10:30PM, Occasional Holidays and weekends, pager
