This role involves working with various Conagra brands, framing, assessing, leading and successful execution of international initiatives. Position summary:  Supports product development initiatives within ConAgra’s International R&D.  Under supervision, ensures timely completion of projects and sample requests that meet or exceed consumer expectations and ConAgra’s internal strategic goals. Effectively collaborates with the cross-functional International team and external suppliers in the development of new products and line extensions.  Assists in development and implementation of new products and packaging leveraging ConAgra plants, US co-manufacturers and international co-packers.  Responsibilities:
    Independently develops technical work plans and executes projects. Execute product development and research priorities in conjunction with Research, Quality & Innovation (RQI) Leadership to ensure that International business goals are met.Leverage the RQI matrix to formulate new products and line extensions, design and conduct experiments related to developing and improving flavor, texture and nutritional profiles.Work closely with suppliers to develop prototypes/products.Collaborate with Co-manufacturing and QA to launch new products manufactured within the International markets as the team evaluates and looks for new manufacturing facilities.Review samples prior to Sales/Marketing submission to insure that the samples are of high quality and meet ConAgra’s standards.Work closely with International Sales/Marketing to launch a strategic pipeline of new products.Actively participate in executing project timelines that are acceptable to the business team, marketing and the R&D Manager.Provide technical support to insure effective and efficient manufacturing of products.  Identify areas for process improvement and cost savings that will increase profitability and productivity.Coordinate and execute pilot and plant trials and product start-upsDevelop and issue Consumer Based Specifications for formula,  processing and raw ingredient specificationsPartner with cross-functional teams by providing technical expertise and helping to influence decision making. 
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
    BS Degree in Food Science or related field required, Master’s Degree in Food Science or related field preferred1-2 years of food product development experience desired and could be substituted with a Ph.D.Knowledge of basic food unit operations and product functionality and safety
 Competencies (Critical Skills, Aptitudes & Personality):
    Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Problem solving expertise. Plant start-up experience desirable.Requires knowledge in food product design, formulation, ingredient functionality and interaction, process design, product scale-up, plant testing and commercialization.Proven ability to effectively communicate with and influence individuals from multiple cultures in order to successfully accomplish business goalsAbility to be self-directed, forward thinking and make decisions that drive business performance
    Proficient in Microsoft Office productsLanguage/Fluency: English. Other languages would be considered a plus
Physical Requirements:
    Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. as needed.Driving a company or rental automobile 4 – 6 hours as needed.Use of pilot plant equipment.Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended work days to include:  loud noise, heat, cold, wet and slippery conditions.Ability to move safely and freely around machinery in both manufacturing and pilot plants.
