Functions as a non-lawyer working under the direction and supervision of the Office of General Counsel and in liaison with Sponsored Programs Administration. Performs specifically delegated substantive legal work, which requires a sufficient knowledge of legal concepts that, absent such person doing the work, an attorney would perform the work.

Essential Functions •    Drafts correspondence, prepares form contracts and other legal documents, to include, but not limited to: processing contracts, sub-contracts, consortium agreements, clinical trial agreements, data use agreements, confidentiality agreements, memoranda of understanding; work orders, amendments and modifications of contracts and agreements; and agreements supporting protection of intellectual property and technology transfer.
•    Utilizes excellent communication skills in interfacing with internal and external legal counsel, Sponsored Programs Administration, the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Team, Principal Investigators, Program Directors, other members of the sponsored programs community and sponsoring agencies
•    Assures compliance with federal and state regulations and CHS policies and procedures in all contracts and agreements.
•    Maintains logs and files documenting contract transactions and assists with metric reporting. Physical RequirementsNormal office environment. Continuous use of computer, which requires ability to concentrate and sit for long periods of time.

Education, Experience and Certifications
Successful completion of the certification exam given by the National Association of Paralegals plus 1 year of paralegal experience as defined by the NCBA under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney; or a Bachelors Degree plus 1 year paralegal experience; or successful completion of: an ABA-accredited program of education and training for paralegals, plus 1 year of paralegal experience or a paralegals' program sponsored by a community college or other institution offering a post-secondary degree that consists of not less than 18 semester hours of substantive legal courses plus 60 semester hours of general post-secondary courses of education, plus 1 year paralegal experience; or a minimum of 3 consecutive years of applicable experience.   At Carolinas HealthCare System, our patients, communities and teammates are at the center of everything we do.
